Meet Manal Al Habdan
Public Relations and Media

“More than 20 years ago, I was blessed with my first child – Lama. She was born with Down syndrome. Her arrival was a blessing in so many ways, and one of the most unexpected is that she was the launching pad for my career. Because of Lama, I found this organization that changed my daughter’s life and changed mine at the same time. Today, I head the PR and media department. In this role, I am responsible for managing the organization's media exposure and articulating its vision and mission to the general public and to donors. I am free to be creative and come up with new events and initiatives. I love what I do. I wake up every morning, energized to start a new day meeting with companies and individuals. Writing reports, preparing press releases, managing small events, and meeting with journalists is all in a day’s work and I absolutely love it. I do all that I do because at the end of the day, this work changes lives. I’ve experienced it with my own daughter who is now gainfully employed thanks to the education and training she received at the Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Schools for Down Syndrome…and I want other families to feel the same joy and pride I feel every month when Lama proudly shows me her paystub. This place is more than an office, it’s a second home…and these people are more than colleagues, they are family.”
 

Meet Abdulhaleem Badawi

“I spent most of my youth working in the field of health and fitness so when the opportunity came to use my skills to help children with Down syndrome, I took it. Even though this was a new field for me, I wanted to transfer my knowledge to assist the students whom I now think of as my own. I owe my success at my job to the leadership who helped me tremendously with my responsibilities. 

I was drawn to this career by the students themselves. Each student I teach is just like my own child and this place is my second home in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Working here brings me joy. The days go by in a whirlwind of activity and enthusiasm and I can honestly say that my students are a source of happiness and bliss in my life.”

“Sometimes, words are simply not adequate enough to express our feelings. My work is not just a job to me. When I wake up every morning and go to school to find a student running towards me for a hug or when I see one of my students progressing and learning how to be self sufficient, it is a feeling that I simply cannot put into words. Inside these walls I have a family and a second home that has taught me the meaning of struggle and success, pushing me to pursue and achieve my life's purpose.”
